Success at taster sessions

Following on from a very successful Freshers’ Fayre, Brunel Climbing managed to get three-hundred and fourteen freshers up and down the climbing wall in just four taster sessions – a new high for the climbing club.

After working – and playing – relentlessly for the first three weeks of this year, the BUMS’ (A.K.A Brunel University Mountaineering Society, to those of us lucky enough to be a part of such an awesome club) efforts were rewarded when so many of your lovely fresh faces came down to try out our wonderful sport. And a keen lot you are too: a lot of freshers had signed up, paid for the first social of the year, and put cash into the hand of our already busy treasurer, to secure their place on our first trip, before some of our exec members had!

Thanks to the enthusiasm that so many of you have shown towards the club so far, the BUMS exec has been given the kick start it needed after last year’s pressures, and we’re all even more motivated to make this year even better than any of the great years that have sadly been and gone.

For those of you who we didn’t get to meet, but are interested in joining Brunel’s small climbing community, you can find us on Facebook by searching ‘Brunel Climbing (BUMS)’, or by checking out our recently redesigned webpage ‘’.
